Cristina Grajales Gallery is pleased to present Since You Left, a solo exhibition by Sam Baron that revisits the tradition of nature morte through a contemporary lens. Conceived as a long table set for a shared meal and suspended in time, the exhibition captures an intimate moment of absence—objects gathered, gestures implied, life momentarily stilled.
Baron’s work has long balanced function with fascination, transforming utilitarian forms into vessels of memory and meaning. In this exhibition, marble pedestal coupes and vases evoke a sense of eternity and bear the quiet traces of human touch on a material as ancient as it is universal. Glass works, created in collaboration with Italian master glassblower Massimo Lunardon, translate fruits, leaves, and flowers into fragile, luminous forms. Creating decanters, domes, and vessels that speak to the vulnerability and preciousness of human existence.
Silver compositions unfold as both centerpieces and autonomous sculptures, where branches and fruit intermingle to animate the space between ornament and object. Anchoring the space, a monumental black Murano glass chandelier descends from ceiling to floor like a living column, illuminating the room while subtly connecting earth and sky.
Together, these works compose a setting that is at once sumptuous and contemplative. An invitation to reflect on time, fragility, and the quiet narratives objects carry with them.
