The work of Philip and Kelvin LaVerne is highly prized for its timeless, elegant style and for its artistic appeal. Widely recognized for their sculptural and historically influenced furniture, their body of work also includes fine art and sculpture. Both Philip and Kelvin LaVerne’s background in fine art encouraged them to approach furniture design as if each piece was a singular work of art. They experimented with construction techniques and manipulated the materials in order to achieve the final product.

Their shared interest of ancient cultures inspired their inimitable patina as well as some of their most well known designs. However, their curiosity and artistic vision encouraged them to breakaway from traditional forms to create sculptural furniture. Through their artistic endeavors, the LaVernes blurred the boundaries between art and design merging the two disciplines together in every piece of furniture they produced.
